London Trip, Part IX – Final Day

Saturday was our last real day in London – on Sunday we had to be packed up and out, and off to the airport.

I glossed over a particular spot in my previous posts because we didn’t spend much time there, and returned on Saturday. It was St. Martin-in-the-Fields, a small Anglican church off Trafalgar Square. There’s a cafe down in the crypt, where we had chicken chasseur with potatoes and braised cabbage.

It was really good. Apparently it’s not unusual for churches to have restaurants or coffee shops down in their crypts. It seemed kind of weird to us, walking over things like this on our way to the food line:

London Trip, Part VII

I fried us up some breakfast on Thursday, July 5.

(This is actually the breakfast I cooked on Sunday before we left, but it was all the same stuff.)

There weren’t any spatulas in the kitchen, so the eggs suffered some yolk breakage while I tried to get them out of the pan, but it was delicious. We had Wiltshire bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, tea, and orange juice. Num.

It was a quick walk up to BBC headquarters at Television Centre.

London Trip, Part VI – Out of London

Wednesday was the only day we left the greater London area.

It was pretty easy to hop on the tube and make our way out to Heathrow, where we picked up a rental car to take us west.
